Self-care is the act of caring for yourself

Self-care is caring for yourself and ensuring that you are taken care of in your day-to-day life. While self-care can look different for each person, there is some overlap in what people do to care for themselves. For example, many people eat a healthy meal or drink a glass of water when hungry or thirsty. Others may meditate or walk in nature to help them relax and reduce stress. These are all examples of self-care — they all help us feel better.

The idea behind self-care is that you must maintain good physical and mental health to function at your best in whatever situation you may find yourself in. For example, if someone has been experiencing a lot of stress at work, they may take some time off and go on vacation with their family. This can help them relax and recharge, making them better equipped to deal with their job once they return.

Certain aspects of self-care may be reserved for those with means — for instance, eating out at restaurants or getting a pedicure. In these cases, it’s important to note that while these things may be easier for some due to differences in income (and therefore access), they aren’t necessarily more valuable than other kinds of self-care activities just because they’re expensive! It’s okay if your self-care looks different from someone else’s — it should be whatever works best for you.
